President, East-West Center for Missions Research and Development

Dr. Steve K. Eom was commissioned by GMS (Global Mission Society) and sent to Ethiopia in 1994, where he devoted himself to church planting, theological education in partnership with SIM (Serving In Mission).

He earned his Doctor of Ministry in Global Ministries from Fuller Theological Seminary, where his dissertation, “A Study on Church Planting Among the Gumuz People of Ethiopia,” received the 2009 Donald McGavran Award for excellence in missiological research.

Dr. Eom’s expertise encompasses church planting, mission strategy development, career guidance, and counseling. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to missionary movements in Asia. He served as General Secretary of the Asia Missions Association (AMA) for 13 years and as Secretary General of the Asian Society of Missiology (ASM) for 3 years, actively promoting unity, strategic partnership, and missiological innovation among Asian mission leaders and organizations.

Currently, Dr. Eom serves as President of the East-West Center for Missions Research and Development (EWCMRD), where he continues to advance the global missionary movement by fostering strategic networking, missiological research, and leadership development for the next generation of mission leaders.
